Sanitary controls when entering Spain

Sanitary controls when entering Spain

Any person arriving in Spain must pass temperature, visual, and document controls (fill out a form) in order to identify infected travelers and their contacts.

Where and how do you have to complete the health form?

From July 1, and regardless of nationality and age, all those traveling to Spain from other countries must fill out a health control form.

All passengers who want to enter Spain will be fully responsible for ensuring that the data provided is true, precise, and clear and must complete the health control form (known as FCS, from the Spanish Formulario de control sanitario). In the case of minors or dependent or disabled people, the guardian can fill out the form on their behalf.

The completion of this public health form must be completed before arriving in Spain, electronically at www.spth.gob.es. Once the form is completed, the passenger will receive a QR code that must be presented at the controls when entering Spain.

However, until July 31, those international passengers who have not been able to fill out the public health form digitally may present it upon arrival in paper format.

Visual and temperature controls when entering Spain

The temperature control of all travelers entering Spain will be completed to identify passengers with a fever who may be infected with COVID-19.

The authorities will take the temperature of the travelers through non-contact thermometers or using thermal imaging cameras, setting a detection limit equal to or greater than 37.5º Celsius, or 99.5º Fahrenheit.

Passengers with a temperature equal to or greater than 37.5º Celsius or 99.5º Fahrenheit, as well as those who show signs of having COVID-19 during visual controls or after completing the public health form, will be subjected to a second sanitary control that will include a new temperature reading and an evaluation of the traveler’s clinical and epidemiological status. In the event that the results of the second test show signs of a COVID-19 infection, the authorities will complete a health alert protocol.
